And just like that, it's gone. Photo sharing service Batch, which launched just over a year ago to great fanfare, has closed its doors -- and users only have until November 8 to download any photos they're shared there.
Batch sent an email notice to users on Wednesday notifying them the service will be closing its doors effective on October 31, with the app already pulled from the App Store. If you were a Batch user, you'll want to act quickly in order to archive any photos you shared with the service.
"Just over a year ago we launched Batch, and the time has come for us to shut down the service,"the company announced on their website this week. "We appreciate you downloading and checking out the app, but most of all, thank you for your loyal support.
"As of October 31th, the Batch app will no longer be available. Your photos will be available to download until November 8th from the website. After November 8th, all photos and data will be permanently deleted."
In order to download your photos, head to the Batch.com website and click the "Connect with Facebook" button to log in, then follow any prompts to begin.
It's always sad to see another startup fade into oblivion after such a short time, but it's yet another reminder just how cutthroat the app world is to begin with.
