If it's true that there's an app for everything, why can't iPhone, iPod touch or iPad users build websites on the go? Now that Jimdo has leapt from the desktop to the App Store, that dream has become a reality.
Jimdo announced this week that its popular website building tool on the desktop has now been ported to mobile with the launch of a free, universal iOS app that allows users to create and edit professional-looking websites from the palms of their hands.
Founded in 2007, Jimdo has since powered more than nine million websites. Available in free, Pro ($90 per year) or Business ($240 per year) tiers, the web building platform is finally making its debut as a native mobile app for the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.
"By integrating the new app with our existing platform, users now have the freedom to decide when, where, and with which device they edit their sites," said Christian Springub, Jimdo's co-founder. "Users can even start on one device and finish on another."
Jimdo for iOS can be used to add, modify or delete content from anywhere there's an internet connection, including adding photos, galleries and text, new pages or even just tracking current website traffic without being chained to the desktop.
"We know that the demand for a native app is there, and now the wait is over,” said Stephen Belomy, Jimdo’s U.S. CEO. “This app is more feature-rich than any other in our industry, and it's only going to get better."
Jimdo for iOS is a free, universal app now available from the App Store and requires a free or paid Jimdo account as well as iOS 6.0 or later.
