The iPhone is great for taking pictures, but thus far Apple hasn't made it so easy to move photos and videos to and from iOS devices — a niche that the two-dollar app PhotoSync fills quite nicely.
Touchbyte GmbH announced the release of PhotoSync 2.0 on Tuesday, a major new update to the $1.99 universal iOS app that allows wireless transfer of photos and videos between devices, computers, services and more.
Touting more than 50 new features, PhotoSync 2.0 introduces the ability to download content with a single touch, and works for up to 10 minutes while in the background. Supported services include Dropbox, Google+/Picasa, Facebook, Flickr, SmugMug, SugarSync, Zenfolio, Box, (S)FTP and WebDAV, with SugarSync now added to the mix as well.
The latest version also adds a new Auto Transfer mode, which allows uploading content to a predefined target in the background, and can be triggered any time the device is within range of a specific location, such as a user's home or work. PhotoSync 2.0 also now recognizes wireless SD cards from Toshiba and Transcend, with full support for RAW format images.
With a fresh new user interface, PhotoSync 2.0 is a free update for existing users ($1.99 for everyone else) from the App Store, and be sure to download the free companion apps for OS X or Windows from the company's website for maximum compatibility.
